Creighton University Research Project
Here is the link to the research survey I mentioned in the meeting: https://blueq.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_5u8sE9zCqFN2Yi9 Here are the details from the email they sent me: Dear Participant or Support Group, You are invited to participate in a study on the experience of patients who have had a stroke who have received occupational therapy services in an inpatient rehabilitation setting. This is a research project being conducted by Kathryn Carano, Kylie Dirham, Elliana Kastner, Claire Passmore, Shelby Rozenboom, Taylor Sadler, and Dr. Lisa Bagby students and faculty at Creighton University School of Pharmacy and Health Professions. The study involves a thirty-question survey as well as a focus group. The focus group will be completed near Omaha, NE and Overland Park, KS. You are free to refuse participation in this research or withdraw your consent and discontinue participation in the project at any time without penalty or loss of benefits to which you are otherwise entitled. The purpose of this study is to assess patients’ thoughts on having their overall mental, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being addressed and needs met by occupational therapists in rehabilitation post stroke. For this study, you will complete a thirty-question survey addressing background information and your experiences regarding occupational therapy in an inpatient setting post-stroke. The surveys will be conducted online via this link: https://blueq.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_5u8sE9zCqFN2Yi9 It is important to understand this material and utilize the results from the survey to provide more detailed information on meeting psychological needs of patients' after experiencing a stroke. This research could be informative of ways to address psychological needs in inpatient therapy as well as provide a billing code for addressing psychological needs in therapy to receive reimbursement from insurance companies. A possible risk involved in this study involves the potential of discomfort answering certain survey questions as they could cause remembrances of personal, unfortunate or traumatic events. The confidentiality of the survey, the careful design of the survey, and the potential benefits this research may provide are structured to reduce these risks. To ensure confidentiality, the surveys will be sent via a confidential mailing site and once surveys are received they will be kept in a secure drawer in the principle investigator’s office. The survey team will do everything they can to ensure the information provided is kept confidential. At the completion of the survey, you will be given the opportunity to enter a drawing to receive a Creighton University memorabilia item. If you have questions about the survey or the study at any time, you may contact the research team via phone (402) 280-5528 or via email at [email protected]. Focus groups, please feel free to forward this email to your members to expand the breadth of our research. Sincerely, Kathryn Carano Kylie Dirham Elliana Kastner Claire Passmore Shelby Rozenboom Taylor Sadler Dr. Lisa Bagby
